Brisk walking, cycling one and a half times more effective for our brain than exercise
Regular exercise is beneficial for mental health, but moderate physical activities such as brisk walking, cycling are one and a half times as effective for our brain as exercise. This has been revealed in a recent study based on data published over the last 30 years.
The study is based on the findings of Mathieu Boisgottier, associate professor at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Health Sciences, and Boris Chaval, senior researcher at the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences Université de Geneva.
Review of 24 analyses..
Following this study, researchers in health and neuroscience, after studying nearly 250,000 people, concluded that both moderate and vigorous physical activity has a positive effect on cognitive functioning. Cognition is the co-ordination of various mental activities of the human being. The first study done in this regard is a review of 24 meta-analyses (statistical analysis). This analysis combines the results of several scientific studies of the same question.
Researchers examined the exercise data of more than 11,000 healthy people in this study. This concluded that regular exercise had a positive effect on cognitive function, but the analyzes performed were sub-optimal.
The second study is a genetic study involving about 350,000 people. The results provide scientific evidence for the cognitive benefits of moderate and vigorous physical activity.
This evidence is based on Mendelian and randomization methods, which are born before conception due to random variations in our DNA. When any two humans are compared, 99.9% of their genetic material is identical.
exhausting oneself to be healthy Not necessarily...
The study found that physical activity improves cognitive functioning, but more importantly, that the effect of moderate physical activity is one and a half times greater than that of vigorous physical activity (running, playing soccer, basketball). This is especially important for people above 40-45 years of age.
● Indian yoga method is also effective
According to religious leader, yoga master and philanthropist Akshar Ji, there are certain yoga practices that we can incorporate into our daily lives to take care of our brain and overall health. Along with yoga, a positive lifestyle is also necessary to keep the brain and heart healthy. These asanas include Padmasana, Chakrasana, Dhanurasana, Halasana and Shirshasana.
