competition for minerals

Representatives of Japan, European countries and other developed countries were unanimous that if China's 80 percent "control" over the processing of essential minerals continued, they would have to be hostage to Beijing's pressure politics. Announced a partnership to build supply chains and share information related to them. Biden also said that this is a big step towards fighting climate change. But America's control over all these minerals is also no less than a challenge. The countries which are rich in these minerals, are backward in terms of environment and labor standards. And even though talks have been made in Japan to form partnership in this direction, but the availability of these minerals is less in the rich countries, then these are not available. Minerals are in great demand in their factories only.

Indonesia, the largest nickel producer, has decided to form a cartel like OPEC along with other mineral producing countries. He recently expressed his desire to settle with America. But since Indonesia lags behind on environmental and labor standards, the Biden administration fears the US Congress will object to such an agreement. Therefore, it is not only a challenge for America to counter China, but it is also a challenge to forge partnerships with countries that have a better record in environmental and labor matters.

China dominates the global processing of minerals that are in high demand these days for making batteries for electric vehicles and renewable energy storage. US officials are currently entering into agreements with several countries to dominate the supply chain of minerals such as lithium, cobalt, nickel and graphite. But it is not yet clear whether this effort of America will be successful or not.

While the world's largest crude producers have held a firm grip on the US economy for decades, the popularity of US presidents has depended on how much control they have over the global oil supply. As the world turns to cleaner energy sources, the way America and energy sources are regulated is going to change too.
