Running after unhappiness is the irony of our humanity, as is running after happiness.
Happiness and sorrow both are twin brothers. Just as running after unhappiness is the irony of our humanity, so too is running after happiness. One whose intellect is balanced should give up both. Try not to be a toy in the hands of your instincts.
The wise man wants freedom of instinct. He knows that sensual pleasures are inexhaustible and that there is no end to happiness and sorrow
How many rich people of the world are engaged in finding new happiness, when worldly things seem useless to a man, but the happiness he gets starts getting old, then he thinks that he should not become such a toy in the hands of his instinct. This is dependence. If someone tells a couple of sweet things, then a person starts smiling and when someone tells a harsh thing, his tears come out. He is a slave of clothes and rags, of being called a lover of the country, of his country and his fame. In this way he is trapped in the bonds of dependence from all sides and his true personality, his true humanity is buried inside him because of all these bonds. When a man realizes his dependence, then an indomitable desire to be independent arises in his mind. If a burning ember is placed on a man's head, how will that man scramble to throw it away. In the same way, a man who has really understood that he is subject to his instincts, to get freedom Gets spooked
Desire to get freedom from instinct i.e. mumukshutva is essential. After this comes nityanitya vivek. To know the difference between what is true and what is false, what is eternal and what is mortal, is eternal wisdom. Only God is eternal and everything else is mortal. Angels, humans, animals, earth, sun, moon, stars are all going to be destroyed. Destruction of all is inevitable. Every object is in constant state of transition. Everything is unstable. This whole world is a changing body. God is the only one, the closer we go to him, the less will be the change or disorder in us. The soul is covered by the cover of our attitude. We simply take this covering away and the soul appears in its ever-pure, ever-liberated form.
