Shukdev, the son of Maharishi Vyasa, expressed his desire to gain knowledge from a scripture that had reached him. The father sent him to King Janak. Shukdev ji reached the palace of King Janak. They thought that surrounded by abundant opulence, what advice would Janak give? He was about to return disappointed when Janak ji made him open up and said, ' We will not discuss religion in the palace, but in the nearby Satsang Bhawan.
In the Satsang Bhavan, he started a conversation with Shukdev about the soul and the Supreme Soul. Suddenly some Raj employees reached there gasping and informed that a room in the palace was on fire. King Janak replied calmly,At this time I am engrossed in the contemplation of God with the sage. Try to avoid fire. In no time, the flames reached the Satsang Bhawan. King Janak still did not get upset. But Shukdev came out of the room picking up his books.
