Britain's Prince Harry appeared in the High Court in connection with alleged illegal gathering of information and phone hacking by journalists of 'Mirror Group Newspapers' (MGN). With this, he has become the first senior member of the royal family to appear before the court to testify in a trial in more than 100 years.
'Duke of Sussex' Harry (38) left the royal family and went to America with wife Megan and 2 children and is now living there. He has alleged that the wrong methods used by Mirror Group Newspapers have affected his personal life. Harry, dressed in a dark suit, walked straight into the court, walking past photographers and other media outside the court, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reported.
Harry has accused the 'Daily Mirror', 'Sunday Mirror' and 'Sunday People' of collecting information through unfair means, including phone hacking. MGN has denied the allegations. The group's lawyers are expected to cross-examine Prince Harry this week.
Relationship with girlfriend broke due to media interference
Harry alleges that 140 stories that were published by MGN were the result of phone-hacking or other illegal acts. His lawyers said the interference caused the breakup of his relationship with his longtime girlfriend Chelsea Davy. Harry has made four cases in the High Court against British newspapers. This case is also one of them. He is also suing Madonk's NGN.
