On Wednesday, officials at the University of Texas at Austin detained dozens of protesters. 108 people have been arrested at Boston's Emerson College. Four police officers have been injured in the clash. Protesters are barricaded inside a building at California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt. Some Jewish students say the protests have turned into anti-Semitism.
However, tensions appeared to ease at Columbia University on Wednesday, when the university extended the deadline for students to remove an anti-Israel encampment by 48 hours to Tuesday. Protests are being held at other campuses, including Brown University in Rhode Island, the University of Michigan, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge and Humboldt. Protesters have sought to put pressure on the US government to end Israeli attacks on civilians in Gaza.

Columbia University students on Wednesday heckled and booed US House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson as he visited the Manhattan campus to support Jewish students threatened by a pro-Palestinian protest, Reuters reported. According to students, Johnson met about 40 Jewish students on campus.
