There are different types of farms. Everything depends on the soil, what will be the name of which farm and what will the farm with which type of soil be called. There was open land in the backyard of Gonu Jha's house. Due to the stony and pebble land, it was called barren fallow. Usually, vegetation like akvan, chirchiri, reeds or thorn would grow there. There was no domestic use of such plants, due to which the backyard of Gonu Jha's house was filled with similar shrubs. Earlier, Gonu Jha used to take care of the premises of his house, but since he was made a clown in the court of Mithila King, he does not get a chance to know what to do where.
Once Maharaj Bhav Singh left for pilgrimage, Gonu Jha got the opportunity to stay at his house. One day he was roaming around the courtyard of his house with his wife when his eyes fell on the open land in the backyard of the house. He said to his wife - "Haven't you ever told me that a forest of bushes has formed in the backyard of the house? In these weeds, snakes, scorpions and jackals will all be out of control. If thieves and thieves hide in it, then It will be difficult to even find out."
The priest remained silent. she said nothing .
Gonu Jha again said - "Look Panditin, you are wise enough to understand that every person should be alert for his own safety and security. Even so, the vicious thieves and thugs of Mithila are directly at war with me. Those thieves and thieves who are imprisoned must be their relatives. Who knows, one of them might be waiting for a chance to teach Gonu Jha a lesson. I will soon weed this weed. I will get it cleaned. If weeds can grow on this barren land, then something else can also grow. First let me find out what else can grow here..."
Nobody paid attention to the talk. Gonu Jha started handling other household tasks. The thought of populating the barren area had vanished from his mind. He would go here and there in the village. Meet our friends. Freed from the formal life of the court, he would laugh in his typical style. At some places rice, fish and pakodas were fried for them and at other places bhang was smoked. One night, after a similar patrol, Gonu Jha was returning towards his home while singing Nachari in the wave of Bhang, when his eyes fell on four-five moving shadows.
Gonu Jha thought – This could be his hallucination because he has consumed cannabis. But still he kept looking into the darkness with his eyes wide open. Ultimately Gonu Jha stopped. He clearly realized that there were not four-five but eight-ten moving shadows and they were hovering around his house. He saw two shadows moving quickly towards the backyard of his house. Where Gonu Jha was, he stood behind a tree and started watching the activities of these shadows. He saw that the remaining shadows were divided into two parts. There were four shadows in each part. Quickly four entered the garden of fruit trees planted in the open space to the north of Gonu Jha's house and four entered the mango orchard to the south of the house.
Now Gonu Jha himself started staggering as if he was very drunk. He was also humming. Sometimes he would hum very loudly but it was not clear what he was humming. His drunken voice seemed too loud in the silence of the night. As soon as they reached their door, Panditain came out of the house with a lamp in her hand. Seeing Gonu Jha in this condition, Panditain was beaten to death. She was not able to understand how Pandit ji came in such a state of excitement today. They never smoke so much cannabis that they get high. Even when the whole village is in Bhangiyaya during Holi, Pandit ji remains fully conscious. Seeing Panditain coming with the lamp, Gonu Jha said in a sobbing voice, "Oh lucky man, please open the small closet at a distance and take out everything you have, as much as you have a spade and a spade... Oh no, you open the closet, the things you need." I take it out and keep it.”
Panditain got upset. Now in the middle of the night, what is this obsession with them? Panditain was convinced that Gonu Jha was drunk at this time. That's why he didn't say anything to them. Opened the closet quietly. There were farming equipment in this room. Gonu took out four sticks and placed them on the door. Then took out four hoes. Then two shovels. He also took out four or five baskets of cane. Keeping all the things outside, he stood at the open place at the door and said to his wife - "Go and get half a bucket of water."
Panditain was getting irritated in her mind. she said nothing . She brought water.
Gonu Jha rinsed the mouth. Wash hands and feet. Then he poured two bottles of water on his head and wiped his head with the towel placed on his shoulder and entered the house.
Panditain also followed them and entered the house and closed the door. Panditain served food for Gonu Jha. Looking at him, she tried to understand whether Gonu Jha was really drunk or was just pretending to be drunk. Panditain was still in this confusion when she realized that some rattling sounds were coming from the window of the backyard of the house which opens from the courtyard.
At the same time, Gonu Jha called out to Panditain and said in a loud voice - "Oh lucky one! You have shown the lamp to take out a spade. You cannot even imagine the reward you are going to get for this tomorrow."
Panditain came into the courtyard full of curiosity and started asking – “What is this?… I am not able to understand why you are taking out spade and pickaxe at night. You have removed the tools of at least fifteen people. What will happen to them?"
"Oho
so blessed . Tomorrow, with this spade and spade, understand that your poverty will be rooted out on its own. You are going to get so much money from these tools that you cannot imagine. I should have taken this step long ago but wisdom came to me later..."
"I can't understand anything... what kind of riddles are you solving?" Panditain's curiosity was aroused after hearing about money.
Gonu Jha said angrily - "Madwoman! Should I tell you about wealth and glory here in the open? I am not yet so intoxicated that I lose my senses. You are my better half. It is my duty to tell you everything. Seven of Agni This is also one of the seven resolutions taken in the rounds. But not here, come on, I will tell you in the room." Saying this, Gonu Jha came into the room smilingly holding his wife's shoulder and started humming.
Panditain kept quiet for some time and waited for him to become silent, but when she couldn't stop herself, she said - "Hey, tell me what money were you talking about and what is the relation of that money with these farming tools?"
Before Gonu Jha could say anything, there was a knock near the window of the room. Gonu Jha was still paying attention to that voice when Panditain said - "Oh, it's nothing. The cat keeps jumping and hunting like this all night long. Tell me, what were you going to tell?"
While walking, Gonu Jha reached near the window and started speaking in a loud voice - "My father had told me before his death that he had deliberately left the land in the backyard barren so that no one would know about the treasure hidden in this land." Couldn't walk. Father has buried pots full of gold coins at seven places in this land. He had told me to use these treasures only when I felt the need. After his death, I also dug a spade on the ground in the backyard. Didn't get it fired. Thought, what would be the point even if there is no fence in these two bags? But today while sifting the hemp suddenly this thought flashed in my mind that despite having so much gold, my Panditain wears a thin sikdi. She lives in a tile house. Money should be used sumptuously. Do you know... the devil eats the money of Soma. Since then I am desperate to get these pots taken out. Well, if not today, then tomorrow. Tomorrow at the break of dawn I will be there at fifteen or twenty. I will catch the laborers. In an hour or two, cleaning the land of weeds and digging the ground and taking out pots full of gold coins will lead to a life of comfort!” After this, Gonu Jha started laughing loudly, "Ha... Ha... Ha! Then there is no need to serve the Maharaj. I will sit among the town's servants. I will keep you decorated like a queen. Ha... Ha." ..Ha…!” An unbroken sequence of laughter started.
Seeing Gonu Jha laughing like this, Panditain got scared as to whether Gonu Jha had got high on cannabis. She became restless. And brought Gonu Jha to the bed with persuasion. Gonu Jha soon fell into deep sleep. Even the pundit's eyes fell.
Panditain woke up before dawn in the morning. The feminine curiosity made her restless as to what she would do when she would get so much gold in her house. Many times he felt like waking up Gonu Jha and sending him to get labourers. After the break of dawn, people go out to earn money, who knows if Pandit ji wakes up late, he may not find any laborer. If it was a matter of one, then it was no problem, the need is for ten-fifteen laborers... In an hour, ten-fifteen men would be able to clean and thrash two handfuls of land... Yes, even myself at that time. Have to be cautious. On finding the pitcher, you will have to bring it from the field immediately. No one should even have a clue that there is gold in those pots.
When Panditain woke up, he did not open his eyes again. He kept wondering what she would do when Sona comes home.
The chirping of birds made Panditain restless… and she could not control herself. Shaking Gonu Jha's shoulder, she started calling softly - "Pandit ji, wake up. It's morning."
Gonu Jha woke up. He got up from the bed rubbing his eyes. Rinsed. Then he started asking the Pandityan – “Oh lucky one! Why did you wake me up so early...?"
“Do you even remember anything? You yourself had said that you have to go to bring ten-fifteen laborers in the morning, have you forgotten?”
“Oh, yes!” Gonu Jha was shocked and said, “Come on, you also come with me.”
"Should I go? To bring laborers? What will people say?" Panditain said.
“Hey, at least let's go outside." Gonu Jha caught hold of Panditain's wrist and opened the door and came out with his wife. He said - "Come, let's come from the backyard. ,
When both of them went towards the backyard, they saw ten men busy digging the ground. They were so engrossed in their work that they did not even notice the arrival of Gonu Jha and Panditain.
Gonu Jha clapped. He said, "Wow, brothers, you guys have changed the face of the land overnight!"
After hearing this, the people engaged in plowing the fields left their spades and sticks and ran away. But where would they run away? It was already morning. People had left their homes to go to the toilet. Gonu Jha raised the alarm of 'thief-thief' and started shouting - "Hold on... no one should escape!"
The villagers caught four of the fleeing thieves. He got a severe beating. After this beating he was handed over to the police station.
Based on his statement, the remaining thieves were also caught. Their beating and interrogation revealed that all these people were related to Langdu Ustad in some way or the other. Langdu Ustad has resolved to teach Gonu Jha a lesson. It was on his request that these people came to Gonu Jha's house with the intention of stealing.
Hearing Gonu Jha telling his wife that there were pots full of gold coins in the field, they decided to take them out and take them away.
Gonu Jha had already taken out the spade etc.. They could not understand till the end that they had become a victim of Gonu Jha's deception. Gonu Jha had already sensed that thieves had ambushed his house. It was because of this that he told the story of the treasure to his wife.
When Gonu Jha reached to see the thieves imprisoned in the jail, at that time also he was humming in the same way in Tarang... He said to the thieves - "Hey brothers! You people dug my barren land very well. I have imprisoned you." When you return from a walk, take your wages with you."
