Nepalese Sherpa Kami Rita conquered Mount Everest for the 28th time

Nepalese Sherpa Kami Rita (53) broke her own record by scaling Mount Everest for the 28th time. Kami Rita's second ascent in a week was completed.

At the same time, 11 climbers have lost their lives due to bad weather during mountaineering this year.

Nepalese tourism official Bigyan Koirala said Kami Rita Sherpa reached the 8,849-metre (29,032-foot) peak via the traditional southeast ridge route.

who is kami rita sherpa

Kami Rita was born on 17 January 1970. He was born in Solukhumbu village which is a hilly area. He lived with his family in a single room house. This village used to be the home of Tenzing Norgay, who first conquered Everest with Edmund Hillary. In his youth, Kami wanted to become a Buddhist monk and spent some time in a monastery, but later changed his mind. Kami first started work on Everest in 1992 as a cook at the base camp. According to a report, from the age of 12, he started delivering goods to Everest Base Camp. Later in 1994, at the age of 24, he climbed Everest for the first time and since then has been climbing the world's highest peak almost every year. In 2019, he has also been the brand ambassador of an adventure company.

Talking about Kami's personal life, he lives in Kathmandu with his wife and two children. They want their children to get educated and choose a better career which is less dangerous than becoming a guide on the mountains. On making his record, he said that many people are trying to break the record, but we are not doing this to make a record. I think how to increase tourism in Nepal. How can we invite other climbers here?
