FIFA is known as Fédération Internationale de Football Association in French and International Federation of Association Football in English. This association was established on May 21, 1904 in the French city of Paris. This association related to sports is made up of members from around 211 countries of the world.
The purpose of FIFA was to create a sports administration that could administer international competition between the national associations of Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. FIFA's headquarters are located in the city of Zurich, Switzerland, with a council of 37 individuals.
French journalist Robert Guerin was the first president of this association from 1904 to 1906. The longest serving FIFA president was Jules Rimet.Served from 1921 to 1954. It is said that the World Cup trophy is actually named after Rimet. The International Federation of Association Football introduced the World Cup in 1930 and invited every country to participate, but only 13 decided to travel to Uruguay. Now featuring 32 teams, the World Cup is known as the world's biggest sporting event, broadcast in over 200 countries and watched by billions of fans worldwide.
